The Launch of Ethanol Buses ED 95Posted on July 14, 2012

On August 12, 2011, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) in corporation with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Scania Siam Co., Ltd., Centralplaza Rama 2, Scenario Co., Ltd., Exact Co., Ltd. and Acts Channel held an activity to “Pay the Respect to the Buddha with Mom on August 12” from Bangkok – Samut Songkram which mothers can join free of charge in order to contribute to the charity of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.  In this event, BMTA also launched ethanol buses ED 95 for transportation – large vehicles running on ethanol fuel that is friendly to the environment.

Mr. Opas Petchmunee, Director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakarindr Bhumiratana, President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Mr. Vichai Jirathiyut, Managing Director of Scania Siam Co., Ltd. and Mr. Thawatchai Thasana, Representative of Director of BMTA Zone 5, jointly presided over the launch of large buses running on ethanol fuel and EURO II buses in an activity to “Pay the Respect to the Buddha with Mom on August 12” at Centralplaza Rama 2 with the stars presenting at the event – Ritz and Kwang The Star who were warmly greeted by numerous audience and their mothers.

This activity is a pilot project for demonstration aiming to encourage the use of ethanol instead of diesel fuel in large buses.  It is organized by the Department of Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry in collaboration with various government offices and private companies consisting of Energy Policy and Planning Office, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi; National Metal and Materials Technology Center; Pollution Control Department; Bangkok Mass Transit Authority; Petro Green Co., Ltd.; Scania Siam Co., Ltd. and PTT (Public) Co., Ltd. with the support of Energy Conservation Promotion Fund, Ministry of Energy.
