Viriya Punpijitr, a third year student in Interior Architecture Program at the School of Architecture and Design (SoA+D, KMUTT), received a bronze prize in the recent competition- Nippon Paint (Thailand) Young Designer Competition which began in October 2013. The contest was aimed at discovering young designers who have a different idea to RE-THINK and RE-CREATE, making use of any existing space such as a commercial or residential building, a neighborhood park or an abandoned structure by incorporating an innovative yet sustainable design which does not only enhance the appearance of the area but also improves the living conditions of the communities by giving them a better quality of life for the future. Organized by Nippon Paint (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the contest involved students from the second year level to upper level respectively. When asked about the lesson he obtained from the contest, Viriya stated, “It was good to have that kind of competition. It did not only improve my skills but I could also see the ideas of other students (participants) from several universities. There were so many interesting ideas that I had never seen or thought before joining the competition. It made me know many things to learn and discover in this world.”
