1.Exchange Programs in English (HUSTEP)

Hokkaido University Short-Term Exchange Program

 

To be eligible to apply for HUSTEP, students must:

1. be enrolled in full-time undergraduate degree programs at overseas universities that have concluded a student

exchange agreement with Hokkaido University.

2. be enrolled and pay tuition fees at their home universities as full-time students during the entire period of study

in Japan.

3. have completed at least two years of undergraduate study at their own university prior to arrival in Japan.

4. have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.

5. be proficient in English. Non-native English speakers must have a score of at least TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5.

6. be able to arrive by late Septembertember or the first week of Aprilil.

2.Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program

(JLCSP)

 

Students who meet the following conditions:

1. Undergraduate students

2. Age 18-30

3. Majoring in Japanese Language and/or Japanese Culture

4. Equivalent to JLPT level N3 or higher

5. Enrollment at home university:

Exchange students are required to be enrolled at their home university as a full-time student during the entire

period of exchange.

3.Special Audit Student (SAS)

Undergraduate students

 

Students who meet the following:

1. Undergraduate students

2. High academic record at home university in the field of desired faculty

3. Equivalent to JLPT level N2 or higher (preferably native level)

 

 

Fall Semester 2019:

1 October 2019 –  31 March 2020

Spring Semester 2020:

1 April 2020 – 30 September 2020

4.Special Audit Student (SAS)

Graduate students

 

Students who meet the following:

1. Graduate students

2. High academic record at home university in the field of desired faculty

3. *Equivalent to JLPT level N2 or higher (preferably native level) *depending on a graduate school.

4. Enrollment at home university:

Exchange students are required to be enrolled at their home university as a full-time student during the entire

period of exchange.

 

Fall Semester 2019:

1 October 2019 –  31 March 2020

Spring Semester 2020:

1 April 2020 – 30 September 2020

5.Special Research Students (SRS) 

Students who meet the following:

1. High academic record at home university in the field of desired graduate school

2. English or Japanese fluency in order to communicate with academic supervisor

Fall Semester 2019:

1 October 2019 –  31 March 2020

Spring Semester 2019:

1 April 2020 – 30 September 2020

How to apply:

  1. Fill in KMUTT Outbound Exchange Application Form and/ or other required documents.
  2. Consult your advisor about course registration. This is to make sure that the credits taken at the partner institutions can be accepted and transferred back to KMUTT.
  3. Submit KMUTT Outbound Exchange Application Form, along with other required documents to your department.
  4. Your department will screen out and submit the application package to KMUTT International Affairs Office
  5. Selection committee will interview, select, and nominate successful candidates to the partner institutions for their final consideration.
  6. IA will announce the result to the department and students.
  7. If accepted, students have to re-consult with their advisor on registration, while feel free to discuss on immigration and other administrative matters with IA.

Important Dates

Due date of application submission to IA: Friday 18th January 2019 before 12.00 hrs.

Interview Date: Monday 22nd January 2019 (Afternoon Session)
