Regulation of the Recruitment

The Selection and Trial of Employee in the Position of Academic

To enhance the effective of human resources management, University will apply the ethnic standard to the recruitment, employee‘s selection and job‘s trial of employee in the position of academic staff . However, the regulation, the method of recruitment and employee’s selection opportunity is available to the interested persons equally.

Therefore, under the authorize of article in 7(2)and 14 of  King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi’s regulation of human resources  year 1999. The human resource‘s committee of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi together with the approve of university’s council in the 5th conference (2/2542) on 18 February 1999 and consent to determine the regulation of   job’s recruitment, selection and trial of employee in the position of   academic staff as the following;


Part 1 : The conversion from officer to employee

There‘s an invitation for officer in university to apply for university’s employee in the position of academic staff.

The officer who has passed the evaluation will change to the contract permanent employee without passing the trial. For the officer who has not passed the evaluation, he / she can still work in the same position at least 1 year. During that time, that officer will be trained by supervisor for the new evaluation and the officer can have the opportunity for evaluation for more 3 times.

The invitation and the evaluation’s opportunity for 3 times is within 5 years from the date the act has be announced.

Officer can still retain their position or their rank before the conversion after they become the employee.

The employee who changes the position from officer within 5 years from the date the act has been announced. He /she will work based on the duration of time as below;

1. The first contract is a 3- year permanent employee contract
2. The next contract is may be a permanent employee contract without the specified period or a permanent employee contract for another 3 year until the contract becomes a contract without the specified period.

Employee changed from officer for 5 years from the date the act has been announced has to follow the regulation of job‘s recruitment in the position of academic staff as the follow;

1.The first contract is a 2 -year permanent employee contract
2. The second contract is a 3 year permanent employee contract
3.The next contract is may be a be a permanent employee contract without the specified period or a permanent employee contract for another 3 year until the contract becomes a contract without the specified period.

Officer can still retain their position or their rank before the conversion after they become the employee.


Part 2 : The Recruitment and employee’s Selection

The employee’s recruitment and selection consist of 2 methods. The Recruitment and employee’s Selection for the employee in the entry –point stage from new graduate or the person who has less experience consists of  4  phase.

Phase 1 :  Job recruitment announcement
Phase 2 : Consider  the education background ,  transcript ,experience and  academic achievement  or award in  field of the  study which relate to the position that has been recruited.

University is looking for an academic staff who has earned doctoral‘s degree or master’s degree. For the applicant who has earned master‘s degree, he or she would also has the potential to study further.

Phase 3 :  When the applicant passed phase 2, the next step is the interview process which  includes attitude, interesting, attentive, presentation skill, interpersonal skill and other

Phase 4 : When the applicant passed phase 3 , University will hold an activity in order to get to know more the applicant . During that time, University will hire the applicant as a casual worker.

When passing the 3 phases or 4 phases, University will hire the applicant as an employee during probation.

Recruitment and employee’s selection from those who is qualified as in no. 14 of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi’s regulation of human resources management year 1998  will be considered by committee in the following aspect;

(1) Education Background The applicant must earn at least master’s degree or equivalent and studied, be  trained ,  and worked in the field of study or vocation that university consider that it ‘s a must  after the graduation for  3 years or more and has an exceptional skill in that field .

In the case for those who has earn the degree lower than the master degree or equivalent or those who does not earn any degree but has knowledge and be an exceptional skillful expert in the field that in university’s need . It will be considered case by case.

(2) For the method of recruitment and employee’s selection, the recruitment and employee’s selection committee will process phase 2 and 3 of no 6.1

(3) Salary rate is considered from experience or the skillful of work which meet  university’s need and may be considered from the salary rate based on the highest degree of the applicant and may increase the salary more for the experience of that field  after  gaining the highest degree with the probation and 2 -year trial contract.

In case that the person has an exceptional high leveled skill, he / she may be appointed as an expert without the probation. At any rate, the first contract shall be the 3- year permanent officer contract

(4) In the case for those who passed the recruitment and employee’s selection and their  rank is assistant professor, associate professor or professor , the university will determine the academic rank of that person  before  accept that person to work.

The senior vice rector is the one who appoints recruitment and employee’s selection committee which consists of

(1) Senior vice rector of academic department or vice dean of research and information department is a chairman of the committee
(2) Dean and vice dean of academic department
(3) Head of faculty’s department / the president of the academic department
(4) Head of faculty’s division or the expert in the academic field.
(5) One representative for academic council
(6) One representative from human resources department


Section 3 : Contract sign-up and job‘s trial

Those who passed the recruitment and employee’s selection from no.14 of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi’s regulation of human resources management year 1999 shall sign up contract and have a job trial as follows;

1. The first contract is a 2 year job trial contract with the full payment
2. The second contract is a 3 year permanent employee contract
3. After that,The contract may be permanent employee contract without the specified period or another 3 year permanent employee contract until the permanent employee contract has been made.
